The first time I knew such a beer as Bud existed was when hearing Sheryl Crow sing about it in this song. When I first heard the tune on radio many years ago, I hadn't a clue what she was singing about. I ignored the unknown drink and swayed to the tune, neither liking nor disliking it particularly. it did stick in my head though.

A few years later, I started to taste test some imported beers. I wanted something new and different. Most of my friends coming from the US, I decided to try American beer. If I did not like the first bottle, I could keep the leftovers for my next visitor to consume. I tried three or four varieties, but ended up preferring a Mexican option.

Mentioned in three books and by four friends, the fact that I had not yet sampled Bud was annoying me. They simply did not sell it locally, though. When I finally spotted it advertised in the junk mail at a local store as 'new' a year or two ago, I was rushing down to the store to try it out. I had been curious for a long time, and it being summer, I fancied sampling a new icy beer.

I had some difficulty carrying my carton of 24 bottles home, being a female without a car; however, I was determined to try the stuff. I ended up with a sore shoulder and crampy hip for three or four days from my efforts, but I decided that I really liked this beer! I then recalled Sheryl's song - remembering that that was the first time I had ever heard this brand mentioned.

Luckily, another local wine shop has since started selling the brand in six-packs!
