Bruce Springsteen, “Radio Nowhere”LOCATION: 52.5 Records , Charleston, SCYEAR: 2007TAGS: ColumbiaPUBLISHED: September 10, 2008Despite the fact that they’ve become almost synonymous with one another, The Boss and his E Street nonet don’t actually get together in the studio all that often. Out on Columbia the first week of October, Magic is only their third record together in the last 23 years. And while this leadoff single sounds an awful lot like that song with Jenny’s home phone number in the refrain, it rocks a helluva lot harder than Tommy Tutone ever could. With a second coat of production gloss c/o Brendan O’Brien, there’s absolutely no excuse for not shelling out the 60 or so bucks and catching this one live (whenever they finally decide where the hell they’re playing). As always, Bruce is as topical as foot cream. When he asks - more than once - “Is there anybody alive out there?,” one only assumes he’s talking to “Chuck” at what’s left of 96 Wave.
