Timothy my current boyfriend had every reason to celebrate in June last year. To the average person June 9 is just another day but for us it is on this day that we took a big step. We had been wanting for our relationship to be blessed eversince we were together. Mid last year, God finally answered our prayer. Father Simpson from our Parish had been away on vocation. He was the priest we both favoured and so we felt it best to await his return.

Finally he returned back to Zimbabwe after spending some time ministering in Morocco. We arranged to see him and an appointment was made for Saturday 9 June before lunchtime. On the day he received us cordially. Father Simpson even offered us tea and chocolate nut biscuits but we politely declined and cut straight to the chase. We informed him of our purpose that we wanted him to bless our relationship. After sharing a few words of good judgment, he made a unique prayer for us.

There we were by the grotto the three of us. The weather was sunny, the air felt fresh and the birds deferentially flew by. We were thankful for the time he shared with us, the words of advise and the pamphlets he gave us to read. By lunchtime we were done and Tim and I decided to go for lunch time Mass. The day felt blessed. After mass we went for some ice-cream at a nearby local store- Scoop. While having our first few servings of bubble ice-cream we got lost in U2’s ‘Beautiful Day’ playing in the background. What a beautiful day 9 June 2007 turned out to be!
