The Class That Knew How To Have Fun!!

U6A Class of 2004 was a hive of activity full of vibrant, confident students who knew how to have fun. After Ordinary Level those students wishing to proceed to the next level had a choice of either selecting art, commercial or science subjects at Advanced level. I went for the Commercial subjects including English Literature hence I was in the Arts class.

We were a hardworking lot when it was time to get down to business but books aside the majority of us had a social life. In between lessons we caught up on the latest gossip, shared jokes or just talked in general. One day it happened when we had organised a birthday cake for our class teacher. She was turning fifty and since she was the nicest the class decided to do something for her on her birthday.  When she walked into the classroom we started singing ‘Happy birthday’. For a moment she needed time to catch her breath. She was elated!!.

Instead of a history lesson we ended up having chocolate cake and girl talk. Our teacher did not appear to be much older than us. We saw her in a new light. For once we were not having to jot down notes, sit for tests or memorise significant dates.  We just chilled and took it easy that hour. Whenever someone cracked a dry joke we would all say ‘shut up’. This song just reminds that we were such a cool group. Even our class teacher could not hep but highlight that she had never seen such an exceptional class.
