She Just Had To Spoil The Fun

Most kids are naughty but some are just naughtier. While My sisters and I were growing up, we misbehaved and got up to no good frequently. A  week barely passed without the five of us getting into mischief. This normally happened when my parents were not around. It was then that we had the time of our lives. There was a time we had a mini break during the school term. For four days the school let us off in what was termed as ‘exeat weekend’.

Back then the five of us were all still in school. The term had been exhausting and we needed the break for sure. Our half time holiday began on a quiet note. Later, mom and dad called and announced they would not be home for the night as they had to attend a funeral. My oh my we were home alone for the night!!. We all got up and screamed. I ran to my parents room being the music freak, got hold of the speaker phones, placed them in the lounge and announced, ‘guys it’s time to party’.

We even had the lights switched off so as to reinforce the disco atmosphere. Upon playing the cd inside, Drew’s Famous ‘Living on a Prayer’ began to play. Then the telephone rang some seconds later. ‘Let’s just ignore it’ said the youngest, but the person kept persisting and upon lifting the receiver we could all hear our next door neighbour, saying ‘Will you not turn it down, this is not a beerhall’. What a short lived party!.
