I Wanna Be A Rock Star!

Looking back, I find it almost impossible to believe some of my career goals. When I was about seven years old I wanted to be an air hostess. After being in an aeroplane for the vfirst time, I thought it would be so cool to have such a job. But some of my other desires however, still leave me confused. What made me want to be a firefighter or rockstar?, I still wonder. For close to two years I was crazy about rock music.

I made up my mind without any career guidance that I was going to be a rockstar. After my O-Level results, I planned to go straight into the music industry. Can you believe that on my fifteenth birthday one of my cousins gave me a rock album as a birthday present?, even though it came two weeks after the big day. What more could I have wanted. I just fell in-love with Hey Joe. After I played it that day, I made sure I downloaded the lyrics and by the time the sun set I already had the lyrics carefully memorised.

The only thing that had been missing was the guitar but psychologically I did not let this get in my way. I blasted the song passionately. It became like an anthem - I would play it every morning, on my way home from school, during breaktime, after sunday school whenever I had the chance. Although my dream eventually died after my parent's suggested I do the sensible thing and go back to school, the song will always ring through my mind. Now I know I will never be a rockstar but that won't stop me from attending rock concerts like the one being held this weekend at one of the city's trendiest halls.
