Courtney Love may have always been a bit of a nutjob, but I used to want to be in her shoes. Not necessarily to be HER, but to be the chick singer in a band, with a guitar in hand, taking shit from no one. I craved it.

When I was younger, my sister knew how to play a bit of guitar. We'd sit in our living room, and she would start strumming random songs that she was learning, and I would sing along. For some reason, "Violet" was always the song that we would really get into. As soon as the first chord was strummed, I was in 'rock chick mode'.

Screaming the chorus was fun back then, because I could actually do it. It annoyed the hell out of my parents that their daughters were making so much noise with screaming and guitars, but we didn't care.

When I hear the song now, I still sing along. My screaming isn't what it used to be, but I'm not twelve years old anymore. It takes me back to the days that I truly thought I would grow up to be in a band, and be the badass rock girly.

Ah, who am I kidding?

I still want to!
