Childhood RevisitedLOCATION: Stage West Restaurant Theatre , CalgaryYEAR: 1989TAGS: teenyboppers, programs, adults, Manager, ShaunPUBLISHED: April 20, 2008I was extremely excited when I read in a Calgary paper that Shaun Cassidy was coming to Stage West Restaurant Theatre as part of the play ‘Romance, Romance’. I told two friends of mine and both girls had shared him as a teen idol as well as I. So we decided we were all going to go not long after it started and we were going to go for the dinner show.
The night of the production, we three woman dressed in our finest then piled into one of the women’s vehicle. We had brought a large bouquet of flowers for Shaun with a written note from each of us. I was elected to give it to the person at the ticket window.
The food was excellent and the play was memorable. After it was over, two of us went to washroom and when we came back the friend who had remained had a big grin on her face. Shaun’s manager had come out and given her autographed programs, one for each of us. We were overwhelmed.
As we were inching in the line going out the door, an older woman mentioned that Shaun would be coming out the stage door soon. I smiled and remarked that we weren’t fifteen years old anymore. We weren’t going to go stand by the door. All three of us held our composure until we were seated in the vehicle. Then we screamed like teenyboppers!
The program has long since disappeared but I still have two glasses from that show. On very special occasions I like to take one out and use it. Or when I just want a good memory.
