“I’m Not Dead Yet” spoke to me like a perfect rainstorm would speak to a poet. The album performed live brought tears to my eyes and a pulse starting again in my heart. It was the first time I related to an entire album and wanted to change the world as a result. I could feel the vibrations of the amp and guitars playing in sync with the melodies of Pink’s voice and felt at peace. My best friend coaxed me into going to the concert and because of her; I gained a will to live like a free spirit. When I heard the song “Dear Mr. President,” I wanted to run and scream “Amen” because it encompassed everything this country was lacking. Truth, reality, humbleness and a conscience; all aiming to bring awareness to people anywhere and everywhere. My first impression of Pink was, “She can sing and be a rebel,” and I envied it so much. I look back and realize her musicianship was beyond that of a pop star or teenage talent. She can sing her pipes out live and is not afraid to let others know what is on her mind. I secretly wish I was as outgoing as her and although I love music, hearing great songs like these seem to never compare to my own writings. I associate this song with the part of my life that is striving to do something extremely productive. Something that can change opinions and perceptions of what is important.
