8 Track MemoriesLOCATION: Trailer , HyndmanYEAR: 1986TAGS: michaeljackson, track, thrillerPUBLISHED: April 16, 2008The first time I heard songs from 'Thriller' was in the Thriller video. It was funny and spooky and Vincent Price was freaking awesome. I remember that for a while Thriller was the only thing I seemed to want to talk about *LOL* I didn't hear the entire album though until much later and on 8 track no less. One summer, during the late eighties,my father had bought a variety pack of 8 tracks at a yard sale - the ones that came in one of those big leather 8 track cases. I don't know if he bought them because of the 'Thriller' album and I also can't remember if they were a gift later that Winter or I just didn't listen to them until later, but my fondest memory is listening to 'Thriller' while hanging out and dancing in the living room section of a trailer that my father had converted into a play area to use during the cold winter months. The trailer had been left behind by one of my siblings who had made plans that summer to build a house on the property using the trailer for temporary living, but then decided not to build. I can remember my father taking a great deal of time that Autumn fixing up the inside to make it warm enough for me to hang out in for those days when school would be cancelled because of snow. I can't even describe how much his effort andthose days meant to me or how this album in particular the music, the rhythm and the beat impacted me. I love this music andto this day, when I hear it, I think of my warm and comforting dance studio, play room, and safe haven.
