As i sat in the darkness of my bedroom, my friend leeann, came knocking on my front door. She has this uncanny ability to show up when i'm on the verge of a mental breakdown.

In her hands was a sweatshirt and paintbrush....not to mention the girl carried an incredible spirit which I so desperately needed that night. Things had been pretty complicated in jane's world. And, laughter was definitely missing in my life.

Lee and I started talking about our younger days and the silly things we use to do. There's something about nostalgic conversation that can instanly warm your heart. Then, out of the blue, she says.. "get dressed because i have something fun to show you. Throw on this old sweatshirt". I was a bit reserved which is unusual for me. Then again, the stress and trials had limited my spontaneity at that time. I asked her what was in her hand. She responded "You'll see. Quit asking so many damn questions and come on."

So, I followed her lead, quickly threw on some clothes, grabbed the sweatshirt and jumped in her car... not knowing exactly what to expect. We ended up in her garage loading up gallons of old paint. Still puzzled, i didn't ask and just did as i was told.I knew a journey must be ahead. She was great like that!

We then jumped in her car, and she began to blare ozzy's crazy train. Instantly, it took me back into my teenage years -- better times. At that point,I realized that we were about to graffiti the local train tressel which we did as kids most weekends. And, we did just that having a blast, listening to ozzy and laughing the whole time!!!!!!

The point was.... in times of trial and adversity, we must lean on those that care for us and laugh at the smallest yet silliest moments. as i pulled paint out of my hair that night, i'm reminded that i was still as free spirited as ever.... life is only as hard as we make it. so, laugh a little... break a law or two (just don't get caught).. and remember that this too shall pass. just do it with a smile and appreciation for those who care...
