Getting Out and Going On

LOCATION: Mom's Car , New Jersey

YEAR: 2009

TAGS: Bruce Springsteen, small town, leaving

PUBLISHED: July 30, 2008

My mom is a ginormous fan of Springsteen and listening to anyone day in and day out can become tiresome. I never really considered myself a fan of his except for a few songs. Thunder Road is at the top.

The last few lines give me chills almost everytime I hear them. "It's a town full of losers/ And I'm pulling outta here to win." I live in a hopelessly small town where everything just feels so small and cramped. Now, I am on the verge of becoming a high school senior and getting out of this place once and for all. Thunder Road perfectly expresses how much I want to finally break out of here and maybe get to become the person I was meant to be.

RHMF said: Funny..that song hit me the same way but many years ago...and I never looked back to that small town. When you're ready, hit that "thunder road" and enjoy the ride wherever it leads you. (8/1/2008)
