However, the main thing that separated me from many other karaoke performers was the fact that I actually know how to sing. Singing had always been a "secret" talent of mine, I had always avoided sining in public to avoid allowing my nerves to get the best of me. However, that all changed one spring break on a Carnival Cruise ship. Somewhere between the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, I decided to get gutsy.While sipping on a virgin pina colada, I decided that I was sick of hearing the voice of the the karaoke host, and my aunt subsequently suggested that I go up on stage and sing. Naturally, I was reluctant at first, but after flipping through the songbook, I found a song that was both within my vocal range and a classic, it was Rock With You by Michael Jackson. I pushed my aunt to come up with me, yet she admantely refused. So I was forced to do a solo, and surprisingly, once i started singing, all of my nervousness went away. Both my aunt and the moderator were surprised at my vocal ability, and the looks on their faces were priceless.
