So thats what they said . . .LOCATION: the livingroom , Cleveland, OhioYEAR: 2008TAGS: message, trust, smiles, warning, caution, life, backstabbersPUBLISHED: April 8, 2008I probably hummed the song a number of times before the day before yesterday when I actually listened to the words of this song, for the first time and cringed. Lyrics designed to put up a red flag when trust is to be considered or not. I geuss in reflection of my life and how many times I was reminded that I 'wear my heart on my sleeve', knowing the words earlier in life may have saved me some of the regret in trusting the wrong people. The O'Jays were right though and no matter which decade the song speaks of there are always 'backstabbers' in history, mine, that will never go 'unforgotten' and perhaps even 'unforgiven'. Love is tricky and friendship does not have a rule book either but if intuition were enough to serve us with the right guidance to avoid any disasters, people included, I would never have felt so bad when I finally heard the words. Sometimes a song is meant just for guidance and opening up the public's eye to the mess all around us. A smile can be painted on and unless you can read and understand what the eyes give away, a 'backstabber' can go unnoticed for months, weeks even years. Thank goodness for spirit guides and the fact that now I know better and unless I am certain a soul won't harm me, I use caution with every step and each decision is weighed carefully so as not to allow myself the feeling of 'being taken advantage of again', to take over and destroy the integrity of my feeble human condition . . .
