Coventry Nights

Those of us in my graduating class who got a kick out of weirdness would love to do the traditional 'midnight showing' of Rocky Horror Picture Show, every weekend if they could. We would have all the props needed to fully-interact with the 'show', for example the Plain Dealer for the rain scene where Brad covers his head with a newspaper, it is (plain dealer from Cleveland Ohio), the additional ad-lib on cue, the dancing of Time Warp in the aisles--gosh we even had the glass of water full of water for throwing in the face of camera-person. It was truly better than any interactive video a computer could produce, this was real.  

The obvious 'light scene' is interacted with the audience , all smokers included, pulling out and flicking their bics, zippos, nowadays disposable mk's and vivas, whatever lighter they had, it was to be flicked as if the collective consciousness urged you to show a visualization for this part of the song. The light at the frankenstein place is ghoulishness at its greatest satiric illumination, yet it gently coerces the audience to 'play along'. Ooooh such illogical, unwarranted as dangerous, taking the viewer into strange and unusual, and you observe your peers making themselves funny fascimilies of characters in the 'show', allowing yourself to be fully entertained ! 

Some of the crew from the other high school would dress up and compete with those from our class that dressed up and usually TS was all by himself . . . (now thats a good song n' memory too but) posing for the camera strutting his stuff like Richard O"Brien did as Riff Raff. One year we had a very similar Frankenfurter present from Lorain and him and TS made great music together for the coventry cameras from tourists that scoured the streets. We got pretty crazy here in Ohio but my graduating class knew how to have fun without having any serious injuries or outright fights occur. We made funny peace and harmony over what some classify as strange and unusual weirdness . . .

It is classic humor !
