The barbershop from Rushmore

Houston, TX represents many great things, but charming is not one word that comes to mind when describing it. One of my more charming experiences in living here is the fact that I get my haircut at a great little neighborhood barbershop called Doug & Don's. It's about a mile away from my house and it's like something from the 50's. Probably the least expensive haircut you'll find as well.

But what makes Doug & Don's so special to me is that it was the very barbershop from the movie Rushmore, one of my favorite films. Wes Anderson grew up in Houston and used many Houston places as locations in the film.

The soundtrack to Rushmore, like all of Anderson's film soundtracks, is pretty exquisite, in both song selection and placement in his films. Many of the songs are great throwbacks, but I always love the scores, which are actually done by Mark from Devo. Pick it up!
