The friends we miss

Long story in a very very short paragraph. My 3 friends and I went to see NKOTB at Dorney Park over the summer 1989. I was with Erin, Mary, and Steffany (who was my best friend). While in line, we meet these 2 girls from New Jersey-Brownen and Kathy. They are also best friends. Since the line went on forever, we chatted a while and Steff and I exchanged addresses with Bronwen and Kathy.

What followed after that was years of penpal letter writing. Visits back and forth and eventually we faded away around 1993. In 1995 I hear from Bronwen again, learn that she is now a mother and we briefly keep in touch, only to fall out of touch again.

My best friend Steffany and I drifted apart and on January 28, 2006 she passed away. Later that year, I am in Ireland celebrating my 30th birthday and I check my myspace account to see a hello from my old pen pal Bronwen. She is still close with Kathy and for a few months we are able to reunite and talk of the old days. Then November 22, 2007 Kathy passed away.

Bronwen and I are left. So we will be going to show in Philadelphia-because for the love of your music we became friends. For the love of our friends who passed-they will be there in spirit. I paid an obscene amount of money to get good seats..but I consider those 2 seats really holding 4 of us.

So Thanks New Kids on the Block-for giving a reunion show that will kick ass. And maybe some backstage passes too?? We are harmless old ladies-but it would nice to meet the band we dreamed about as a childhood, and to remember the times when our 2 departed friends screamed along with us to all the words.

OK-I guess that sounds cheesy. But the story is true. I expect we will miss our friends a lot more when surrounded by the memories we recall with them.
