The JacketLOCATION: School , Lake Geneva, WI, USATAGS: school, boston, friends, irish punk, clothing, dropkick murphys, good deedPUBLISHED: March 14, 2008Back to school with this memory... At the end of senior year, life had sped up and everyone seemed to be getting careless with their schoolwork. The same went for belongings, and there were many times when I'd lose things, leaving them behind in class, and I'd see other people's backpacks and folders and things all around the school, no longer needed, or just plain forgotten. At my school there was this chap named Devin. He was very fun to be around. Talkative, funny, friendly, and generally good looking. He also listened to a lot of really good music, and was known for wearing this really cool jean jacket with tons of patches of his favorite bands on it. One of those was the Dropkick Murphys, which I also happen to love. One day, after my gym class, I left the gym and then turned around because I'd forgotten something. When I got back in the gym, there was only one person in there, and they had Devin's jacket that he'd forgotten and were trying as hard as they could to get one of the patches to tear off of it. I walked up to them and told them I knew whos jacket it was and that I'd give it back to him the next time I saw him, and so... I saved the super awesome jacket. I didn't see him the rest of the day, so I brought it home with me, and gave it back the next day, and he was OH so happy to see it again. I felt rather proud of myself that day... Why "Fields of Athenry?" Because it's the first song I heard from them. I heard it on an Atticus compilation album a few years before this, but when I hear Dropkick, I think of Devin.
