It Haunted MeLOCATION: Various locations in La Crosse , La Crosse, WI, USAYEAR: 2007TAGS: relationship, recent, internet, breakup, haunting songPUBLISHED: May 6, 2008Maybe it's too soon to be writing about this here since it takes place from late last year until just a few weeks ago, but it's memories, so I figure it counts. As long as I've known about the internet and that you could meet people on said internet, I've always looked at the practice as lame. If you want a date, go out and get one. So I said to myself I'd never meet someone offline. It's dangerous after all. I'm willing to bet you can tell by how I'm talking about this that I didn't follow my own advice. I met a guy online who lived "close enough" and who I thought was awesome and who I got along with. I talked to him on the phone every night and decided to meet him. We went out on December 31, 2007, and had plenty of fun, I had a great time, and I assume he did too. This song was playing when we had our first kiss. *aww* right? Not really. This song had also been playing on the radio when I first called him, and it was playing on TV a few times when I'd talk to him online and some other random times on the phone and all that. It haunted me because why would such a strangely depressing song be following us around. I had an odd feeling that it was talking to me. And it was! (oh my goodness.) On a Friday in early April, this guy broke up with me because he was a truck driver, and he was going to be spending even more time on the road than he had been previously, which means that instead of rarely seeing him I'd never be seeing him. But the day after that he called me and told me that he'd just made the biggest mistake of his life and that he wanted me back, which doesn't make much sense because when I turned him down, he cleared his conscience by telling me that while he was with me he'd had another girlfriend, and been with one of his exes as well... "You either stand or you fall And I do stand.
