Cool people...LOCATION: Friend's house , Bristol, WI, USAYEAR: 2000TAGS: friends, radio, life lesson, music, U2, sleepoverPUBLISHED: March 15, 2008Everyone had that "cool friend" growing up. Even the ones that most people looked up to had another friend they thought was way cooler than them. For my little group of friends, this person was Alex. Everyone wanted to hang out with Alex, and wanted to call her their best friend. I personally only got to visit her house once, and that was for her twelveth birthday, when we hung around in her room, then snuck out to the living room really late to watch Bride of Chucky with her brother and the other girls who stayed over. At some point that night, she called into the local radio station and requested a song (U2's Beautiful Day). They agreed to play it because it was her favorite song, but I'm sure it was already in the line-up because it was so popular back then. We didn't even stay in the room to listen to it because we were scatterbrained little girls, but went out into the kitchen and had some popsicles instead. I haven't talked to her for a few years, even though I have her as a friend on MySpace now, maybe we should catch up sometime, or maybe I should just let her go... I don't know. But I remember she was very fun. It's strange when you realize that your best friends aren't the ones you chase after, but the ones you're chasing them with. And you're lucky, like I was, if you realize it at the same time as the other chaser, and you look over at them and smile and shake hands and say "Hi!" But that's a dramatization.
