Honorarily English

 Throughout elementary school, my best friend and I were inseperable.  We loved the same television shows, the same foods and, most importantly, the same music.  We were both completely obsessed with the Spice Girls.  For my tenth birthday my mom decided to plan an elaborate surprise, somehow managing to keep it entirely secret from me.  One cold Friday in February, Mom picked me up from school.  Much to my surprise, my best friend was sitting in the backseat of mom's car.  Mom tried to keep our destination secret, but at last the suspense was too much, and the cat was out of the bag: we were going to see Spice World.  This news was entirely too much for the pair of us to handle, and we burst into screams, the kind you only hear from two ten-year-old girls about to see the movie they'd been thinking about night and day since its release.

 After the movie, the real fun began.  Mom informed me that she was going to leave us in Wal-Mart while she did errands at other parts of the store, and as long as we stayed in the toy section we could be unsupervised.  As Mom walked away, I remember being so completely overwhelmed with the possibility of being left to our own devices that we couldn't think of a single thing we wanted to do.  Suddenly inspiration struck, and he had an accent.

 For the entirety of our solitary store adventure, we were Emma and Geri, two English Girls' Academy students visiting our aunt for the week, much to the later bemusement of my proud Irish family.  We were suddenly outgoing and jovial, talking with everyone we met.  We spontaneously broke into song, namely 'If U Can't Dance'. I hear that song today, and I can't help but think of the first, last and only time I ever wanted to be English.
