Gamers at the Cafe

Admittedly, my college experience is somewhat of a blur.  I spent first term not really meeting anyone except my roommate, and wasting away most weekends on my computer.  I wasn't really enjoying myself.  However, the Good Times were just around the corner: all I had to do was find them.  I eventually met some people and, with the help of my friend from high school, started hanging out with a few gamers.  Though almost every gathering produced some sort of amazing memory, one in particular stands out above the rest.

We met in the usual place, the conference room below the cafe.  The room wasn't supposed to be unlocked after 10pm, but the janitors knew we wouldn't damage anything.  During our sometimes twelve-hour games, we could hardly be bothered to leave our seats. It was, in fact, one of those nights. The snow was falling outside, guaranteeing us an uninterrupted night of Grawl killing. No one would come out in this weather, especially not late at night.  Each of us had our own little corner of the building, far enough so the others wouldn't be disturbed by our music, but close enough to be within yelling distance.

Each of us had our own distinct playlists: my boyfriend had his hippie songs, his roommate had Death Metal and one fellow even had Spice Girls.  My friend and I, however, had our Irish tunes.  His name was Seamus, and we became fast friends.  Both of us had grown up in Irish homes, and had seemingly the same experiences growing up.  We were twins, hailing from different sides of the States.  Oddly enough, we both had roughly the same albums on our gaming playlists.  We both had the same ritual: after starting up our computers, we'd start the night off with "I'm Shipping Up to Boston".

We were Legolas and Gimli, in constant competition concerning the number of miniscule red dots slaughtered. When I killed three, Seamus had dispatched of twelve. We tore through the countryside, one-hitting enemies as if there were no tomorrow.

Although we haven't played in ages, all we have to do is hear that song and we're retelling stories by the dozens.
