9/11LOCATION: Madison Square Garden , New York, New YorkYEAR: 2001TAGS: NYC, MSG, Elevation Tour, U2, 9/11PUBLISHED: October 10, 2008I was never able to attend a U2 concert growing up even though I have been a fan since I was 9 or 10(thanks to my older cousins' good taste in music!). The first show I was able to attend was at the Garden during the Elevation tour not too long after 9/11. I'll never forget the beautiful tribute the band hosted by scrolling the names of the ones we all lost on the stage screens. They also brought members of the NYPD and Fire Dept. onto the stage. It was just an extremely touching moment to be in NYC honoring those who gave and lost their lives. So many people at that show were directly connected to people who were lost on 9/11...it was a very emotional outpouring. I think U2 made it a little easier that night for everyone to remember and cherish the good memories of their loved ones. I'll also never forget the mariage proprosal that night...very sweet and really reminded me that we must move forward and rebuild our lives. NYC will forever be one of the most tight-knit communities I love and respect. I miss it dearly now that I live out west.
