My time in EdenLOCATION: Brown University , Providence, RIYEAR: 1993TAGS: high school, bands i've been in, concertPUBLISHED: April 10, 2008My first ever rock concert. It was outside on the main green at Brown University. Sunny, I think. I'm sure many people were barefoot. Zap Mama opened. They were, like, wow. The Maniacs performed as expected. Sarah M's bra strap fell, and I told her, and she said thanks. The Amtrak train to Providence was the only time I've ever completed a crossword puzzle. For this, I will always have a soft spot for Amtrak. That spring, I was in a band that covered "These Are Days" for our high school rock band talent show. Susie Y sang, along with her friend, whose name I don't remember. Our drummer was the brother of actor Alessandro Nivola. He was a crisp drummer. I don't remember who our bassist was. Bassists probably get that a lot.
