I Don't KnowLOCATION: Texxas Jam , Dallas, TXYEAR: 1982TAGS: randy rhoads, texas jam, brad gillis, ozzyPUBLISHED: April 27, 2008I believe I was probably one of the first people around here to have this album. I ordered it from a record shop in England and was listening to it for probably six months before it was released here in the States. Being a guitar fan, I was completely floored by the fretwork of Randy Rhoads. He was totally my hero, I even had his polka dotted Flying V tattooed on my arm. When concert promotors in Dallas started talking about a HUUUGE concert they were going to put on in the Cotton Bowl, It didnt matter to me who the headliners were going to be All I cared about was that I was going to get see Ozzy and Randy. I didn't even care that The Blizzard would probably play in the middle of asteamyJuly afternoon in Texas. Then when Randy died in that crash in March, it wasn't real clear whether Ozzy would cancel his dates or not. I sat there in the heat of the concert and the emcee came out between sets and introduced the Blizzard, the first riffs of "I Don't Know" started blasting from the mountain of amps and out storms Ozzy. He had shaved his head as an act of mourning for Randy and it was all just surreal. Brad Gillis (of Night Ranger) had stepped in for Randy. Brad is a decent guitarist in his own right, but surely not who I wanted to see that day
