a child's happiness

I was still a teenager when my daughter was born, and since I was heavily into rock and roll, so was she. At one and two years old she had pictures of KISS taped to the wall in the hallway of the house. It was pretty funny, all these Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons pictures hanging about knee high all the way down the hallway.

There's really not that much to this memory but I do always think of this when I hear this Ram Jam song. The album I have it on is not actually this Best Of collection, but no matter. I would play "Black Betty" for her and of course she'd dance around a little bit but there was always one point in the song where she would start laughing and she'd just make herself cry with the joy she was feeling. Thats one thing kids can remind us all of. As we get older and have so many more pressures and stresses on us, its like we forget how to be that happy. Especially over something as simple as how a piece of music makes us feel. Kids are so uninhibited. They feel what they feel and dont even think that someone else might not approve. They just go with it. If more adults had the honesty and pureness of feelings that little children do, I think this world would be a much more peaceful place.

It is so much easier to identify with your kid and be friends with them, which I think is important. Just my feelings. Lol If I had a kid they would be as into rock as your daughter was. Great Memory! (4/29/2008)
