Packing Up, AgainLOCATION: Cedar Point , Sandusky, OHYEAR: 1996TAGS: transient, moving, nomadPUBLISHED: March 19, 2008Come the end of the summer, it was time for me to pack up, and move on to my next destination. In between my freshman and sophomore years of college, I took a job at Cedar Point, specifically so that I wouldn't have to go back home. I went from one dorm to another, and back again when the school year started. Since I did this for two subsequent summers, I got real good at packing my life into several boxes, and jamming them into a mid-size automobile. It wasn't always the cleanest pack up, but it got the job done, and by the time that I was done with college, I was quite good at it. It made my first move into Detroit that much easier. However, the nomadic lifestyle was a bit of a challenge emotionally, as I did get tired of it after a while. I always felt like I had an end date for that particular moment of my life, and I found it difficult to invest in the moments in front of me. I knew that I would soon be packing up again for something different. Nothing ever felt like home, no matter where I laid my head.
