Joshua Tree TourLOCATION: Centrum , Worcester, MAYEAR: 1987TAGS: Joshua Tree Tour, 40, U2, 1987PUBLISHED: October 4, 2008This is actually my favorite concert memory of all time; a standard U2 final encore song during the Joshua Tree tour was a stirring version of "40" - Actually the whole night was amazing. The show started with the house lights fully up and the crowd was upbeat and sining along with the pre-show house music. Almost unnoticed and the band casually walked onto the stage singing along with Stand by Me and ultimately the recording faded and the band was playingwith The Edge even singing one verse, all intended as a friendly, informal opening. For the encore, during 40" each band member left the stage one by one, but the crowd continued singing as theypoured into the streets of Worcester still singing "How long, to sing this song...." over and over again - This continued for nearly half and hour after the song and was simply pure magic.
