Mr. JonesLOCATION: Road Trip , Albuquerque NMYEAR: 1993TAGS: Counting Crows, Mr. JonesPUBLISHED: June 30, 2008I was in the Military and I came home for 30 days between duty stations as I was moving from Connecticut to California. My best Friend from High School Jim Keffer Had Cystic Fibrosis and had been really sick a couple of weeks before I came home. We hung out the whole Time I was home and went on road trips to California, Colorado and Las Vegas. In California we slept in the car the first night because we didnt want to pay for a hotel for 4 hours since we arrived at 5am. This song had just come out and we listend to during this month. We had a blast that month from Free Golf every afternoon at the local country club in New Mexicothat his disability paid for to house Parties in Denver where we saw a guy get bashed in the face with a 40oz bottle. To haggling with Hookers in Vegas and finally telling them to get lost because we had lost all our money at the tables anyway. To cruising for chicks at Venice beach it seemed as if this song was always in the background. Jim reminded me of Mister Jones especially the line where it says Mr. Jones wishes hes was someone just a little more Funky. I went on to California at the end of that month and Jim eventually died due to the CF. This song reminds me of the time I spent with My best Friend and how I will never forget him.
