My First Recorded SongLOCATION: Grandmother's House , Davao CityYEAR: 1989TAGS: Abba, talent, musicPUBLISHED: February 26, 2008Most people would say that Philippines is a country of singers. We have Jasmine Trias of American Idol, Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls, Apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas, the 13-year-old Charice Pempengco, High School Musical’s Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Lani Misalucha, and Ms. Lea Salonga. These are just some of those people who had made it in the international scene. Aside from these foreign acts, we have also our local talents such as Regine Velasquez, Martin Nivera, Ogie Alcasid, Christian Bautista, Erik Santos, Rachelle Ann Go, and Sarah Geronimo. Filipinos are fund of singing because, they say, it’s their own way of expressing their feelings. I could say that I’m one of them.  My singing career started even when I was still a little girl. My family, especially my grandmother, told me that they noticed my talent for singing ever since early years. My grandmother told me that I started holding a microphone when I was 2 or 3 years old and that I could memorize songs on a tape without looking at the lyrics. I remembered a time that I sang “Hasta Mañana†in my grandmother’s house. They recorded it on a tape. I heard the tape when I was about 9 or 10 years old. At first, I laughed at my childish voice but then I realized how much my family gave importance to my talent, especially my grandparents. During family reunions, they would not end a day without letting me sing a song. My grandmother’s sister is usually the one who will request me to sing even just one song.
