I was a member of the school choir since first year high school but I was active starting second year. It’s because our moderator, Mr. Sugabo, was my class adviser. He was a strict yet patient teacher that’s why many students liked him. As a moderator, he taught us basic things that a choir should know.

When he was our moderator, the club was in perfect harmony. We have done a lot of activities and received positive compliments. I also got to enjoy myself during practices and performances. Aside from our regular time, we also have practice during Saturday mornings. I don’t mind attending because I get to learn new songs and hang out with other members.

Ther e was a time when a local TV station (ABS-CBN) offered us to sing in one of their Sunday Mass. The mass was aired on Sunday morning but the taping was on Saturday evening. It was once in a lifetime experience for us so he grabbed it. We were called thrice but he only accepted twice and refused in the third time. He noticed that the members were no longer in harmony unlike before. There was even one time when our performance was a failure.

When I reached fourth year, I found out that Mr. Sugabo had resigned. Our new moderator was Mrs. Cadiz. She wasn’t able to handle the club like Mr. Sugabo did. The club only got worse. We don’t have practices anymore and there were limited copies to members. It was totally messed up.

A few years after I graduated, I visited in one of their mass and found out that the teachers were the ones singing as choirs. It was a sad thing for me. I guess no one had ever handle the choir like the way Mr. Sugabo did
