The Cobain has landed.LOCATION: Crossways Nightclub , Bridgend, WalesYEAR: 1992TAGS: nirvana, spirit, crossways, bridgend, smellsPUBLISHED: May 14, 2008It's a busy Saturday night in a popular local club. The beer is cold, the women are hot and the place is packed. I was walking around the perimeter of the dancefloor trying my best to look cool and failing. I leaned up against the bar and started checking out a hottie in a hawaiian dress amongst a group of friends all dressed the same. The song playing is the Beach Boys' Surfin USA. The record ended, the lights dimmed and the DJ announced 'this next track is from a new band out of Seattle, America'. With that the opening riff to Smells Like Teen Spirit came through the speakers, my ears pricked up as a slow hush descended onto the floor. Then as the drums kicked in the dancefloor ceased to dance and started to bounce in unity. Everybody on the floor held each other by the shoulders and proceeded to jump around like nothing I had seen before. My thoughts were 'what the hell is this' as I was instantly blown away with the grunge sound of Nirvana. Next day I went out and bought Nevermind and Nirvana remain in my top 3 acts to this day.
