She's that to you, but this to meLOCATION: Home , Fort WorthYEAR: 2008TAGS: Friends, billy, misunderstandingsPUBLISHED: July 9, 2008So, the title of this memory is a quote from Billy Joel explaining what this song is about. I always remember loving this song from the first time I heard it, and apparently the meaning behind this song gets misconstrued quite often or something? But anyways, I remember hearing it and I got it; that quote is exactly what the song meant to me. Not too long ago my friend was going through some high school drama (of course) and it was basically a huge misunderstanding, although the song isn't about a misunderstanding per se, but I could relate it with the situation. My friend would tell me how she would act exactly the same around these two people, one of them (her bf) always understood her, and they were pretty much perfect, while her best friend would always get offended and be offended by certain things this friend of mine said, or by a certain way she acted. My friend just didn't understand why this confusion was happening--I let her listen to this song. I said, "see, you can be the same person, yet be one thing to one person, and a completely different thing to another. not everyone's going to understand you, so just don't worry about it, and quit trying so hard." It was amazing, it was as if clarity just fell upon her, so when I heard that Billy Joel quote about the song (memory title), I was just taken a-back a bit, because that's exactly the way I felt about the song.
