Windows 95 Extra's = HipLOCATION: Cumberland County Civic Center , Portland, MEYEAR: 2001TAGS: Windows 95, Weezer, DadPUBLISHED: February 18, 2008Convincing my parents to bring me and my brother to concerts was like pulling teeth. Neither of them wanted to go with us nor would they want to drop us off considering how young we were. I wasn't even that big of a Weezer fan at the time, but I somehow convinced my dad to bring us to see the Extended Midget Tour in Portland, ME. We live in MA so it wasn't exactly a 45 minute drive. My dad is notorious for being late, so we missed Jimmy Eat World. That really sucked as they were one of my favorite bands at that time. Instead of trying to go down into the crowd, my dad picked out three seats that weren't awful but were pretty lame. We pretty much have the entire section to ourselves as everyone is down in the general admissions area. I was convinced that my dad had never heard Weezer before. They weren't exactly his type of band so it wasn't a big deal either way. But I had over looked one small detail: the Windows 95 cd. Me and my father use to work on our computer every now and then. He always brought home the newest version of Windows and back then they had a few really cool goodies on the discs that made them worth looking through. The Windows 95 disc had the Buddy Holly music video on it and apparently my dad had watched it enough to know the words. When they started playing the song, my dad says "Hey! I know this song." and proceeded to sing along with most of the song, bobbing back and forth. While that didn't embarrass me because the music was playing when he was singing, it did when he sang it out loud on the way to the car.
