Hot Pink and Sexy

Ten years after Brian Hyland immortalized the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini I bought my first real bikini.  I’d had a demure two piece before that, but it didn’t really count.
Though in my early twenties and already a divorcee I was as shy as the girl of the song when I put it on for the first time outside of store’s dressing room.  Modeling it for my boyfriend and his friends (at his request) I covered it with a trench coat.  It took him fifteen minutes of cajoling and the threat of being thrown overboard before the coat came off.  The whistles and cat calls that accompanied the unveiling made me blush, but were great for the ego.
It was hot pink with medium size white daisies all over, which added just a touch of innocence to the overall affect.  Not to brag, but it did look good with my dark brown hair and tan.  The bottoms had strings at each hip so it could be tied down to be even more revealing.  Since my boyfriend owned a cabin cruiser docked at a marina the suit got plenty of use evenings and weekends that summer.  Before summer’s end the bottoms were tied down nearly all the time and the trench coat stayed in the closet.  Though it was not the only bikini I ever owned it is the one I think of whenever I hear this song.
