Sleeping Beauty has always been my favorite Disney, followed closely by Lady and The Tramp, for several reasons.  First and foremost it is a beautiful love story.  Add to that one of Disney’s most unforgettable villains, a Prince that actually has to work to win fair maiden, and three fairies that are totally adorable.  Merriweather is wonderfully headstrong and mischievous—much like me, so I relate to her totally.
Over the years when my imagination would take flight the lyrics and melody to Once Upon a Dream became an inspiration for daydreams, short stories, and even a novel.  In my daydreams as in Aurora’s I would dance with that one special someone who would love me as I loved them—unconditionally.
Time passed and life went on—I married, divorced, remarried, and life was good, but not quite the daydream.  My husband passed away and for awhile I was adrift, certain by then that the daydream had passed me by.  Then Michael came into my life and all the daydreaming became reality.  It was magic.  And they lived happily everafter.

The video I selected from YouTube presents a different song to clips of Sleeping Beauty because it also expresses the joy and wonder I felt the first time I saw Sleeping Beauty and the first time I danced with Michael.

Oh, by the way, I prefer the blue dress.
