The year this record hit the charts the singers were 11 and 14.  Being around that age at the same time, I can attest to the fact that lots of little girls would have loved to trade places with them.  What an opportunity to record and possibly get the chance to meet some of the greats from that time period.  In reality they probably led simple lives much like most of us.  From researching them on the internet I have learned that their father, a band leader, wanted them to have a good education and a normal life so refused to allow them to tour or even perform on the Ed Sullivan Show.  Strange, since he was the one that brought them to the studio originally to record this song.
My memories of this song are of its catchy tune and simple lyrics.  It is another hit from these two that I more closely associate with my own life since its title has been an anthem for me over the years.  Gonna Get Along Without You Now  was how I learned to deal with relationships gone bad and later in life it, along with other great mottos, was how I looked at employers.  The latter probably doesn’t say much for my attitude about employment, but it totally reflects the attitude of most employers so I really didn’t feel bad about returning the sentiment.
Both song done by Patience and Prudence were done with light-heartedness and their voices were like cotton candy—sweet and wispy.  Hadn’t thought about them for awhile, but when I ran across them in the Top Hits of 1956 wonderful memories instantly surrounded the song and the singers
