Sitting Here Waiting For YouLOCATION: Kadena Middle School , Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, JapanYEAR: 2003TAGS: first love, romancePUBLISHED: March 10, 2008Technically, I had met her in the fifth grade, but I never actually became friends with her until the eighth grade, in my middle school chorus. Over the year, we developed a beautiful friendship, thank you Casablanca, and we shared everything. We sang songs together, performed side by side, made fun of everything, including each other. Alisa Hamilton was my girl best friend. And eventually, I fell in love. Soon, I moved away. I never got a chance to say goodbye, but I did get a chance to express my feelings to her. Before the day we moved away, I went out and bought her a beautiful crystal (come on, I was thirteen at the time, I couldn't afford diamonds) with the words "Don't Forget Me" burned onto it. I hid a note in the box and charged my friend to give it to Alisa after I was gone. A few weeks passed and I finally settled into Jacksonville. The internet was set up at last, and for the first time in three weeks I checked my e-mail. And besides all the usual spam, there was one e-mail that stuck out at me. From Alisa, admitting that she had a huge crush on me as well. And at that point I proceeded to smack myself in the face incessantly with a tire iron. I am now seventeen years old, and it has been four years since I've moved away from Okinawa. And though I've gone out with a lot of girls and had a few steady girlfriends since I moved, I can still honestly say that my feelings for Alisa have not changed at all. If I could see her now... I just wish I could talk to her face to face right now.

Anyways...
I guess if you think she's right, stop sticking around here, go get her. (3/18/2008)
Missy said: You'd be amazed about what happens with first loves. After 17 years, mine is back in my life and it seems that we love each other just as much now as we did then. Not to say there aren't obstacles, but I think we have a chance at a happy ending. Don't wait 17 years. (4/21/2008)
