there were six of us piled into a car driving at 60mph over the brooklyn bridge at 3am on a tuesday morning, we were on a mission into manhattan in search of fun- drinks if there were any bars open (we were new to the city and didn't know). we had the windows rolled down because it was a hot night and the breeze lashed our faces and made us feel alive somehow. we were joking and laughing, we'd had a stressful evening because we'd got lost on the subway and things had been tense between us all but the drive was making us forget. then nick turned on the radio and the unmistakable intro to baker street came on so we turned it up as loud as it could go, singing along to the saxophone solo in a raucous cacophony, and we sailed over the bridge looking at the lights of the city that never sleeps, the city that i fell in love with.
