About this Artist

Unrest

Washington DC's Unrest were one of the premier bands of indie rock's early-1990s golden years. While the band's sound--furiously strummed jangle pop and infectious vocal harmonies--was seemingly simple, Unrest possessed an experimental streak and high-concept approach that belied simple trad-pop sensibilities. The band broke up in 1994, but founding member and frontman Mark Robinson (who also owns and runs the independent label Teen Beat) has gone on to front such acts as Air Miami (with Unrest bassist Bridget Cross), Olympia Death Squad (a solo project), and Flin Flon.
