About this Artist

The Saints (Punk)

Although the Saints, led by Chris Bailey and Ed Keupper, had a prolific and musically varied career that spanned three decades, the band's mark on music history was made via their first three albums, released in the mid to late 1970s. WE'RE STRANDED, ETERNALLY YOURS, and PREHISTORIC SOUNDS represent some of the most well-constructed, unpretentious, straightforward punk records ever made. That the long-haired, R&B-loving Aussies were laughed off the stage in England upon their arrival in 1977 illustrates both the rigid definitions of the scene to which punks subscribed and the Saints' refusal to accept those constraints. Keupper and Bailey parted ways in 1987; Bailey continued to use the band name, while Keupper began performing under the name the Aints.
