The Reigning Sound

As a member of the Memphis punk-blues outfit the Oblivians, Greg Cartwright made a name for himself in underground garage circles. However, it was with his band the Reigning Sound that Cartwright took his songwriting to a new level and found success outside of that rarified scene. By incorporating bits of country, vintage southern R&B, and power pop, the Reigning Sound emerged as one of the most intelligent, soulful, and organic-sounding bands on the indie scene of the early 2000s. Cartwright helped write and produce 2007's DANGEROUS GAME for girl group icon Mary Weiss, and the Reigning Sound even backed the former Shangri-Las frontwoman during her appearance on the Conan O'Brien Show.
