About this Artist
The Rapture (Rock)New York City's the Rapture were the flagship band of the dance punk movement that swept the indie underground of the late 1990s and early '00s. Mixing the taut energy of U.K. punk acts like Gang of Four and PiL with the frenetic, uplifting grooves of house and Madchester styles and the aesthetic input of the DFA Records crew, the Rapture's 2003 album ECHOES provided the definitive soundtrack for turn-of-the-century hipster bacchanalia. The band released PIECES OF THE PEOPLE WE LOVE in 2006--the album featured production from acclaimed studio whiz DJ Danger Mouse. Definitive Albums
