About this Artist
The Psychedelic FursDespite the band's name, the Love Generation touches that brought the Psychedelic Furs great acclaim came only after they'd established their initial style. Theirs was a dark, swirling sound that mixed Bowie-ish art-rock and post-punk guitars with Richard Butler's Dylan-inspired lyrics and three-packs-a-day voice. The Furs were one of the most well-known of the U.K. new-wave bands of the 1980s both at home and in the U.S. They called it quits in the early '90s, but embarked on a reunion tour at the dawn of the new millennium when the style they helped create was being adopted by a new "new wave" of young hip bands.
