About this Artist

The Bangles

Inspired by great 1960s West Coast bands like the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield, the Bangles brought a jangly Rickenbacker folk-rock flavor to '80s rock. The L.A.-based band had its own top-notch songwriters in Susanna Hoffs and Debbi Peterson, but most of their biggest hits came with outside material by Prince ("Manic Monday"), Jules Shear ("If She Knew What She Wants"), Simon & Garfunkel ("Hazy Shade of Winter"), and Liam Sternberg ("Walk Like an Egyptian"). The Bangles broke up at the end of the '80s, but reunited in 2000, and eventually released an album of new material, DOLL REVOLUTION.
