About this Artist

Phoenix (Pop)

French pop group Phoenix play an irony-heavy, 1980s brand of breezy soft-rock that's given a crisp, contemporary sheen with an electronic-leaning production style. Though the band plays fairly straightforward rock-influenced pop music, it was born out of the same scene that produced both Daft Punk and Air, two French groups with a more dance/club focus to their sounds. Early in its career the group developed a considerable cult following that included filmmaker Sophia Coppola amongst its ranks. It released its third full-length studio album in 2006.
