Otis Rush

Though Otis Rush was born in Mississippi, he was no Delta blues guitarist. Seemingly a city boy at heart, he journeyed to Chicago, where he quickly became one of the most highly regarded urban blues players of the '50s and '60s. The left-handed guitarist had a deep, dark sound that made him one of the key influences not only on subsequent generations of blues players, but especially on the participants in the '60s British blues boom, such as Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and John Mayall. He recorded superlative tracks for the Cobra, Duke, and Chess labels, and continued touring even after many of his disciples had come and gone.
