About this Artist
Orange JuiceThough never well known in the United States, Scottish pop ensemble Orange Juice found success in their native U.K. emerging from Glasgow's early-'80s Postcard Records scene. Playing a buoyant, jagged style of guitar pop that owed as much to classic soul and funk as it did to the Beatles and the Byrds, the band released four full-length albums before breaking up in 1983. Lead singer Edwin Collins achieved one-hit-wonder status in the U.S. with his 1994 single "A Girl like You," and the early 2000s saw a renewed interest in the band when a number of popular up-and-coming U.K. post-punk acts began citing them as an influence.
