Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

After leaving the post-punk mayhem of the Birthday Party behind, Australian rocker Nick Cave turned toward a somewhat quieter--but equally dark--sound. Recruiting Birthday Party member Mick Harvey, Einsturzende Neubauten frontman Blixa Bargeld, and other formidable musicians in 1983, Cave assembled the Bad Seeds to join him on his venture into moody troubadour territory. Over time, the brooding showman's songs has become more narrative and meditative, sealing his reputation as the Leonard Cohen of his generation.
