About this Artist
Neu!A key part of the early-1970s Krautrock onslaught of post-psychedelic German rock bands (Can, Guru Guru, Cluster), Neu defined a specific, highly influential sub-genre dubbed "motorik." Their insistent, highly rhythmic style embraced minimalism and repetition to create a feeling of constant forward motion. Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother (both erstwhile Kraftwerk members) only worked under the Neu! banner for a few years, moving on to La Dusseldorf, Harmonia, and other projects, but over the ensuing decades, their innovations affected everyone from Stereolab to Wilco.
